The position

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Applications Architect with broad range of experience across a wide range of technologies. They are looking for people with experience in researching problems faced by large business and providing innovative technical solutions. This will involve the ability to present and propose the architecture and approach to the solution.

The Job and the Experience Needed

You will be involved in the design, develop & implementation of software solutions. Define application architecture, including architectural patterns, key mechanisms and modeling conventions. Create prototypes & perform technology evaluations. Analyze & define interfaces, design classes & design subsystems. Act as a tech lead in software development process & plan reviews of application designs. Develop technical specs. Create/ develop design & programming standards. Ensure quality of source code, conduct code reviews & provide feedback. Create and manage software architecture documents. Review /recommend products from vendors as needed. Create technical documents related to projects. Mentoring /guidance to team members and participate in team building/ resource planning. Collaborate on project breakdown & planning. Understanding of architecting solutions with demanding non-functional reqs i.ie - performance, high availability, security & reliability.

Skills Needed

Strong system architecture & design exp with the ability to understand Business needs & related technical constraints as well as being able to create/propose strong solutions that summarize architecture & system design. Strong knowledge of some/ all of the following: Java, J2EE, SOA, JDBC, REST SOAP, OOD, .NET and of web technologies (i.e. HTML, CSS, JQuery). Experience leading a team. Strong understanding of development methodology best practices

Experience and education needed

7+ yrs development experience. Degree in IT, Software Engineering or a related area. Strong Leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team & coordinate with business & tech team. Good exp with Object Oriented design concepts, patterns & software architecture. Good knowledge of web standards i.e. Web 2.0 & semantic mark-up and RIA. Experience leading open source frameworks & dev of web services. Ability to deliver production quality software within schedules. Experience within a large financial or related co is beneficial. Exp with database systems, database design, SQL & stored procedures. Exp producing use cases, software architecture documentation using UML, component model diagrams.

Your primary role will b providing technical leadership and contributing to tech leadership within the co. The candidate will be the subject matter expert (SME) maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technological advances in their area and so must be able to identify and address architectural challenges.

The candidate must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to business & tech audiences and communicate innovative problem solving ideas clearly.
