Role Overview

Vision Systems Technology Engineer

The Group focus on Optics, Imagers, Algorithm Development, Concept Studies, Research, International Standards, P3 activities and IP management among others.

 

The role of Vision Technology Engineer requires close co-operation with all team members and colleagues within the R&D Department.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • Experience in Imaging & Optics an advantage
  • Experience in software tools, Matlab an advantage
  • High degree of innovation and creativity
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of motivation and work ethic with an emphasis on practical, hands-on work
  • Automotive experience an advantage

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The following list contains a broad range of activities which are covered by the Vision Technology & Expertise Group. The successful candidate will be expected to perform different activities from the list, among others, at different times depending on the Group's requirements.

 

Project Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to project teams
  • Work with relevant project teams to find innovative solutions to technical system issues
  • Write component and system level Image Quality validation test plans for all phases of the projects
  • Carry out IQ tests as per the plans where required
  • Take part in all relevant product design reviews
  • Support the project team in Design for Test and Design for Manufacture activities
  • Develop fisheye and Functional Test specifications
  • Represent the voice of the final product end user or customer

 

Research Responsibilities

  • Work with Vision Systems Group, R&D Manager and Business Development Managers and other relevant parties to help define Technology and Product Roadmaps
  • Work on customer demonstration vehicles to ensure they are equipped to the latest level of software and hardware and that they are calibrated and tuned for optimum Image quality
  • Carry out component, product, application and vehicle level benchmarking activities and report findings to appropriate project teams
  • Support Project Working Groups and Concept Studies where directed
  • Perform research into new video technology, ideas, approaches
  • Support relevant and appropriate research into new process concepts that heavily influence product design approach and customer functionality
  • Keep up to date with new standards and general market information in the Industry
  • Work innovatively and creatively within the group with a particular focus on protecting innovation and IP through the patent process

 

Other Duties

 

  • Represent Co. at Industry Working Groups
  • Develop relationships with the relevant Systems architects at OEM customers
  • Assist Business Development Department with Feasibility Studies & support RFQ activities
  • Participate in Technology, Supplier, Tool Selection for new development.
